Free plan update (more tabs and requests)

Hey all

We’ve rolled out some updates to the free plan:

  • 2000x tab completions (one-off) → 2000x tab completions every month
  • 200x free requests per month → now 500x free requests per month
    • applies to all models marked free in the docs
  • 50x requests → still included, but now only for GPT‑4.1 (via Auto or selecting directly)

Hope you’ll get more done with the extra room to build and explore!

Cool. I’d like to reevaluate the new Tab since my subscription has expired for a while. But currently it still says I need Pro to use Tab. Is it still rolling? Or maybe I need to wait a billing cycle until it refreshes?

So basically, you’ve downgraded the free plan and made it worse.

  1. 2000 — nothing has changed here.
  2. It used to be 200, now it’s 500 requests to free models — again, to free models, so essentially nothing has changed.
  3. There used to be 50 premium slow requests, now it’s 50 requests only to GPT-4.1, which is priced 4 times higher and counts as 1 request.

So in the end, the free plan has degraded and become worse.

2000x tab completions every month
Where are these anyway? My Cursor is still telling me that I need Pro to use Tab :upside_down_face:

I want to know what about the paid plan, these people who use the free plan just ■■■■, they don’t even give feedback. For me, I would reduce everything and give more requests to those who pay and help the project.

I didn’t understand. Let’s say I buy 500 requests and I’m a Pro user — what happens when the 500 requests are used up? Will I not be able to use SONNET 3.7 in normal agent mode anymore? For the last two days, I couldn’t access anything because my usage limit was over.

You’re getting free api calls to models … and to agentic developers.. for free? Should be grateful they even offer anything for free at all honestly.

500 free requests to the free models. Why should they give you a single free premium request and take away from all the paying users they have?

You can still use the model in agent mode, it’ll just be slow requests. If you want fast requests again, pay for fast requests.

Once the company’s usage rights have expired, it is now very late in fulfilling its requests.

It is still unlimited, slow requests which are included in your cursor pro subscription. Emphasis on ‘slow’ requests.
