Gemini 2.5 Pro endless "planning next steps" loop

Describe the Bug

Using Cursor for the first time with a brand new account. Gave gemini-2.5-pro one prompt, which was essentially “review this codebase and summarize it in Project Summary MD file.” Agent accomplished the task, but after the file was created it got stuck in a “planning next steps” loop. Went on for a good several minutes before I cut it off.

I copied all the thinking output from after the task was complete and uploaded it below.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Install Cursor. Clean install on a new MacOS 15.5 machine.
  • Start a new Agent chat using gemini-2.5-pro
  • Ask it to do stuff, see if it gets stuck in loop?

Expected Behavior

Agent should be able to stop thinking and terminate once task is done.

No - Cursor works, but with this issue
