Gemini 2.5 pro : stuck outputting the same message repeatedly

Describe the Bug

Good job this was gemini and not claude :). that would have chewed my tokens.

Gemini got stuck in a loop repeating the same message. It only stopped when i noticed and hit the ‘stop’ button

Steps to Reproduce

I’m not exactly sure, I asked gemini to do a fairly standard refactor, it then seemed very excited to tell me what it had done!

Expected Behavior

One message instead of the stream ofd them

No - Cursor works, but with this issue
