For my organisation and many others, the decision to go with Claude/ChatGPT over Cursor has been because they also provide a general interface to deal with non-coding questions alongside their dedicated coding environments in Claude Code/Codex, all in one subscription. Cursor doesn’t do this, and so would be required as an extra subscription alongside those, which becomes not worth it.
I feel Cursor could benefit greatly from increased uptake if it provided a simple generalised interface like this to ask non-coding questions, and route them to any model from the major providers in the same way as in the IDE. This would make it much easier to sell as an alternative to a Claude/ChatGPT subscription rather than being required as an additional subscription on top.
