Github integration seems borked in 1.5

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Chat is no longer able to access information from Github. I have the integration set up in Cursor Settings, and prior to this, I used it extensively. I could just paste in links to Github PRs, and chat would intelligently grab the data and work with it.

Now, it instead tries to search the web when given a Github link, and after several tries it will report that it wasn’t able to get the information.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Have a working Github integration set up
  2. Update to 1.5.9
  3. Give Chat a Github link to work with

Expected Behavior

Chat should be able to pull information from Github using the set up integration.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Even when directly told to use the integration, it fails:

Hey, unfortunately, we’ve temporarily disabled PR indexing due to the feature causing client memory issues. The team are currently investigating how to resolve this, but during this time, PR integration will remain unavailable.

Does this also happen with models such as GPT-5 when I try to run git diff? Because when I did, the model said it can’t do it. Is the issue basically that models can’t use git diff?

Will there an announcement somewhere so we know it’s back?

@danperks Is there an ETA for this feature being brought back? Seems it is still not working in 1.6.23. This was a heavily used feature for our team and we would very much like to see it restored.

Any update on this?

Looks to be back online?

It started working for me last week.

However today I updated to 1.7.17 and now it does not work again :sob:

any updates on this? Whats with the back and forth? @danperks

Still not working in 1.7.44

And still not working in 2.0

@danperks will this feature ever come back?
