Grok Bot: bot titles get merged into bot names ("Name · Title")

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

Bot titles are now saved as part of each bot’s name, like “Babu · Personal Brand Manager”, and the separate title field is left empty. When a bot sets its title with UpdateProfile, the title gets added to its name too, so every bot in my sidebar now shows “Name · Title” as its name.

Expected Behavior

Names and titles stay separate: a plain name, with the title shown as its own label like before.

Additional Information

Workaround tried
Renaming a bot back to a plain name drops its title. Setting the title again adds it back into the name.

I also emailed [email protected] about it.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hi @vishalpunjabi,

This one is intentional. Bot titles are being retired, and on Oct 26 each bot’s title was merged into its name so the text wasn’t lost. While titles are off, any title that gets set, including one a bot sets on itself, is merged into the name again the next time the app syncs. That’s why renaming drops the title and setting it brings it back.

To get clean names that stick, rename each bot to just the name you want and leave the title empty, and avoid asking the bot to set a title. If you want the role visible, the description field stays separate and isn’t touched by this.
