Grok Bot cannot access my local computer

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

“It’s a known Grok Bot bug, not Tailscale and not missing Administrator. Chat can stay up while the local-computer hook never registers. Staff’s own note: the helper starts, then drops its connection to their servers. There’s no attach button you can press.”

Of course this failed after I registered for a 1 yr sub - coincidentally.

Steps to Reproduce

Always reproduceable.

Expected Behavior

Local computer access., which is set to “Always allow”

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Version Information

Grok Bot 0.30

Built-in

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report. What you’re describing matches an issue we’re tracking. The helper that connects Grok Bot to your local computer starts, but doesn’t finish registration, so chat keeps working but local computer access stays unavailable. I’ve shared your case with the team.

A reset like this usually helps:

  1. Fully quit Grok Bot. Right-click the tray icon and click Quit, not just closing the window.
  2. Open Task Manager and end any remaining Grok Bot processes.
  3. Launch Grok Bot again and give it a couple minutes to reconnect.

If your local computer still doesn’t show up, sign out and sign back in in Grok Bot. That fully recreates the helper. Version 0.31.0 is also rolling out now, so it’s worth checking for an update and upgrading.

This isn’t related to your subscription. On our side it’s active and looks fine. This is specifically about the helper reconnecting after an update.

Let me know how it goes. If it still doesn’t help, we’ll dig deeper.

Fixed, thank-you Dean
