Playing around with Grok Bot and how it can Orchestrate a Team of Bots to Plan, Spec, Dev, Test, Review … What its showing me is that I don’t need Cursor anymore?
How is Cursor planning to still stay in the picture?
Only thing is Grok Bot controls models so it could become allot more expensive than controlling this myself on cursor… so cursor could be cheaper, but with the possible ease of use of grok bot the cost might be worth it.
If you don’t want to review the code, you may not have to use Cursor.
But it is important to understand that Grok Bots do not code by themselves. They will pass a prompt based on your prompt to a Cursor Cloud agent (they will mostly pop one).
You can’t review the code from the Grok Bot app; you may either have to actually check with Cursor or your repo (Pull-request, Branch, etc).
Using Grok Bot to do those is useful if your changes are minor (a landing page copy, for example). But I recommend still using Cursor for most use cases; as you said, then you’ll have control over the model you’re using.
I guess the backend of Grok bot is cursor - its just a preference on what interface and the level of detail you want for development.
But if we consider the future of AI development - it is to have no human in the mix other than just prompting a feature request. AI would be so advanced that logic would be perfect.
And the Grok Bot interface is what I can expect to run these. (All complexity removed and just human readable output - with features and bugs fixed 100%)
As a software engineer myself, I think we are not yet at this point.
I personally do have to double-check the produced code and potentially need to run it locally to test the output and check that the required quality (as well as security) is here.
May be for people who don’t care about how bloated and un-optimized their project is and who have no idea or care about what is going on under the hood.
I run stuff from grokbot. It spawns a cursor agent, and I can click the link to see what’s going on. It’s pretty smooth. It’s much nicer talking to grokbot than talking to a cursor agent directly, from my phone.
