Query about Grok Bot Cursor Agent Usage and Model Selection

Hi there, I’ve been using Grok Bot for a week with some heavy coding sessions. I’ve also been using Cursor in parallel. I’ve been a long time Claude Code user and coming over here I’m very impressed with both tools and intend to stick around! Thanks for the hard work making this happen especially mid-merger.

Onto my query…

I notice that Grok Bot spins up Cursor agents to do coding work. It’s not clear to me whether these are agents in my account or whether they are independent agents associated with some kind of Grok Bot account - managed and configured behind the scenes.

Two questions please:

  1. Does this Cursor usage come out of your normal Cursor allowance, or does it come out of the Grok Bot allowance?
  2. Is it possible to configure the default model used in these Cursor Agent sessions within Grok Bot?

Thanks in advance!

Hey @HarryMunro, thanks for the kind words and great questions!

The Cursor agents that Grok Bot spins up run in your own Cursor account. You can see and manage them at cursor.com/agents alongside agents you start yourself.

Their usage counts against your regular Cursor plan allowance, while your conversations with Grok Bot itself draw from the separate Grok Bot allowance.

As for the model: when Grok Bot starts an agent without naming a model, it uses your Cloud Agent default model, which you can change in your Cloud Agent settings. or you can simply tell Grok Bot which model to use for a task and it will pass that along.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Colin very helpful!
