Grok Code Fast is soooooo good and soooo fast ! Love it !
@Bromz no the trial did not end, you can add the model if it is not there for any reason.
Appreciated, it had just randomly vanished. Wasn’t showing up on the list in settings until I started typing “Gro..”
Hi, Thanks for extending.
I can see 3,46 $US usage (included) over the past two days for grok-code-fast-1 on my Pro Plan Summary.
Is that deducted from my global quota, or is it really in free trial mode?
Thank you,
did you use max mode?
Can someone explain me please, I have a Pro+ Plan cursor and use cursor with gpt-5 by OpenAI API.
-
Where should I put grok API key? I can’t find in settings. And I need to be able to use both agents gtp and grok.
-
Also I see there is grok-4 model. So I can use it for free?
-
Where can I get information whta is grok-code-fast-1? What are benefits to use it than grok-4?
Not an admin, but as a fellow user:
- no api key is necessary, you might need to add a “custom string” inside the models
If someone does not have the model, you can add it as @Dtometzki mentioned by going to Settings > Models and add
grok-code-fast-1
- don’t think so.
- here : https://x.ai/news/grok-code-fast-1 it’s a code oriented model, probably finetuned to be more helpful as a tool than a generalist LLM. It’s fast and reasoning, but in my experience is prone to errors: start with the single prompt mode instead of the agent to “gauge” the performance.
I will respond here to several questions:
@rfroli this is just a display information for your information. I will confirm internally.
-
@fridary You can use Grok Code for free and do not need an API key for Grok and GPT.
If you want to use API keys, see more details at our API Key docs -
@fridary Grok 4 is available but not free. Only Grok Code Fast 1 is free temporary during testing period. You can find all models in Models Docs.
The model info is provided here.
hey @condor just to confirm:
grok-code-fast-1is still free, correct? Is there like a hard-limit on the usage (just likeGPT-5) or just simply unlimited?- can you confirm why this is included in my
Prousage limit? Shouldn’t it just be set to0to avoid misleading information? I get it if you guys wanted to show us the price estimation on the Usage Dashboard (and maybe change the wording toFree Trial), but on the Summary tab? - I renewed my annual subscriptions at 9th of Sept, this means I will still be able to use the
automodel unlimited?
So how to use Grok 4? How and where to pay? I can pay for API key on Grok website grok.com, but where to put this API key in cursor?
Tell me more. I didn’t understand your lifehack, even though I use Cursor IDE a lot.
Let’s say I need to build a UI interface for an application with a lot of details.
I can spend an hour and take it step by step.
Instead, I write the whole UI program,
and let Groq Code go through the entire document and build everything.
Even if it’s very long, it doesn’t stop until it’s finished, and it’s insanely fast.
But when it builds many things, it leaves behind all kinds of small errors.
If it tries to fix them, it goes into a loop of corrections and fails.
Instead, when it finishes,
I let GPT-5 go over all those actions and fix any mistakes or problems.
In the same conversation, I switch models — when the first one finishes,
I let the second one correct.
I think the only thing I don’t like about Grok is you have to click the thought button to see any thinking or reasoning.
never output anything for the user to see or gives any updates.
Anyone else have the same problem? It does good, but I would love to see some type of updates or ask me something when it could be two different things.
This model is still free.
hey @deanrie
Thanks for confirming. It would be helpful if this were also set to 0 / Free on our Dashboard Billing, just like code-supernova and Auto, as the current display is a bit misleading for us

Do we have an end date? I noticed this topic is no longer pinned
There is no end date known yet. I have by accident removed the pin.
