Grokbot | can not send msgs; agents' virtual machine is still visible

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

Cannot send any Grok Bot message. Every send fails with “Couldn’t send your message. Check your connection and try again.” / “Failed to send”. Messages stay local only (no requestId / sendAcceptance ack). Bots never reply. Roster/history still sync.

The same account also cannot send on Android. This is not one bad chat and not a local Mac-only attach issue.

Started 2026-09-07 09:55 CST (UTC+8), immediately after desktop auto-update to 0.44.0 (ShipIt replaced the app ~09:55:53–09:56:02). Last successful bot replies were 2026-09-06 evening.

Looks like the same class as Grok Bot fails to generate replies; Agent Computer screen is still visible and Grok Bot 0.43.0 — Bot failed to respond; Reset Agent Computer stuck in partial state : shared cloud computer stuck; client reconnect cannot fix it.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use Grok Bot macOS 0.44.0.
  2. Open an existing bot conversation/create new bot.
  3. Send a short message with no tools, e.g. “ping”.
  4. The send fails within a few seconds (“Couldn’t send your message. Check your connection and try again.” / “Failed to send”).
  5. Fully quit with Cmd+Q and reopen — same failure.
  6. Sign out and sign back in — same failure.
  7. Open the same account on Android and send a short message — same failure.

Messages should send and get replies on both Mac and Android

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

solved by rest the computer

Hey, glad it’s working. And yes, you understood correctly. It wasn’t your Mac or the Android app, and it wasn’t the update to 0.44.0. Some Grok Bot computers, including yours, temporarily lost connection to our servers, so sending failed on all devices even though the computer screen was still visible. This is on our side, and we’re tracking it.

One note about Reset. It rebuilds the computer from the last saved snapshot, so the most recent changes made right before the issue might not be restored. If you notice anything missing in the history or bot settings, let us know and we’ll take a look.

If you hit the same freeze again, please message us here first before doing a Reset. In most cases the connection comes back on our side by itself, without any data loss.

Hi @deanrie, I’m experiencing the same issue and it is still ongoing.

Every one of my Grok Bots fails with “Bot failed to respond,” including a simple health check that uses no tools, connectors, search, memory, or files.

Details:

  • Grok Bot for macOS, version 0.44.0, Stable track

  • App is fully up to date

  • Fully quitting with Cmd+Q and reopening did not resolve it

  • Bot roster and conversation history remain visible

  • Approximate start: September 7, 2026, around 5:29 PM MYT (UTC+8)

  • Request ID: 7c3fcc19-f7c9-4f21-afa5-9adc5a599ca3

I tried “Update Grok’s Computer” but not Reset because the workspace contains important recent files and I want to avoid losing changes. After selecting that, I seem to have “Backup not ready” as a new status that’s been stuck that way for a while.

Given that this appears to be the server-side connection issue you described, could you please check?

Please let me know if you need my account email or any additional diagnostic information privately. Thank you.
