How to tell is cursor is still working

It’s been stuck for over five minutes—how can I tell if it’s still running?

Usually, if it’s been stuck for 5+ minutes, the Agent is actually stuck. Try these options:

Quick fixes:

  1. Cancel the current request (Stop/X button) and try a new chat
  2. Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics. If anything fails, switch HTTP Compatibility Mode to HTTP/1.1
  3. Fully restart Cursor (Quit, not just closing the window)

If that didn’t help, this is a known issue on 2.4.x. Here are workarounds that worked for others:

For debugging, we’ll need:

  • Cursor version (Menu > About Cursor > Copy)
  • OS
  • Request ID (Chat context menu > Copy Request ID)
