I truly love Cursor more than you could imagine but the anxiety of having to wait and see and count for my tokens to go up is not a good customer experience. So I would love it if Cursor would allow customers to use their plans like I have a plan with GPT, I have a plan with Claude, and I would actually pay a monthly fee for Cursor for all of the things that Cursor brings if I had the ability to utilize my plans again with Claude and with GPT. There is a lot of value for the different features that Cursor brings to the table. If Cursor charged for that value and also gave us the ability to use our plans, I would pay for that. The more value and the more features that you bring or that Cursor brings, the more it’s worth it.
And it apparently is doable because I just started using a tool called Conductor and it allows you to use the plans for OpenAI and Anthropic. But it doesn’t come close to Cursor’s functionality. But they show that using the plan is doable. The API is the same thing that I have now with Cursor. I can’t have a consistent cost. OpenAI with the Pro plan I pretty much have unlimited use of their models.
Again, thanks for the reply. I do love Cursor. I just am finding that I can’t afford to be paying, at times over $500/month.
I’ve heard about a project (most likely violating the terms of service) that allows you to use ChatGPT as if through an API, but in any case, you need to understand that these are different projects.
ChatGPT Plus/Pro gives access to Codex, Anthropic provides access to Claude Code, and Google offers Gemini CLI.
These are literally competitors to Cursor IDE, and expecting their synergy directly within Cursor Agent would be strange. Nevertheless, their products can be used within Cursor IDE as extensions or via the CLI.
yes I’m the same path, just cancelled cursor, 3 days and the plan is out of quota. So I paid for Google antigravity that have claude an gemini models and $20 plan refresh the quota every 5 hours, plus codex and claude code. More than enough. I really love cursor but i have to expend more than 300 to keep all the month with this aproach i only expend 57 usd
