I’m really pleased by Cursor so far due to the ability to scan the entire codebase.
However, I also already have a GitHub Pro subscription for Copilot, and an OpenAI subscription. I feel like it’s a bit of an overkill to have all three.
What would you recommend keeping/tossing, or are there options I haven’t looked properly at yet?

Hi @techkech
I use all three, it’s costly, of course, but first, you should ask yourself what you use each of them for.
- For example, I use ChatGPT for a variety of things: from searching for information to solve different tasks to just finding out something specific. It has basically replaced Google for me.
- As for GitHub Copilot, I’m not sure. I only use it occasionally to check out its new features compared to Cursor.
I dont use CoPilot, but I do use ChatGPT Premium. I agree, it is something I was also hopping to get rid of ChatGPT license and instead only use Cursor. However, fundamentally, Cursor AI is built-in Code Editor and is focused on delivering features to make coding experience better.
I guess I will have to keep both, since I do like ChatGPT’s capability of replacing Google search, just as @deanrie mentioned.
You should try perplexity.ai for researching. I use it as a ChatGPT replacement for even non web-search tasks. I’ve been using the free tier for a good number of months now. It’s solid. I only use ChatGPT now for content, really. Images and copy. but honestly I should take the time to replace those as well since its not really the best…
I dropped copilot a few days after picking up Cursor. It’s not like you’re locked in, so might as well cancel your subscription until Microsoft picks up their game (ignoring that Microsoft somehow owns Cursor as well haha)
I tried Perplexity for a while, but unfortunately, it didn’t suit me, ChatGPT is just easier for me to use.
