Hey Eugen — that message is actually telling you the source. “User Provided API Key Rate Limit Exceeded” means the limit was hit on a custom API key you’ve configured (BYOK), enforced upstream by the provider behind that key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, etc.), not by Cursor.
When you hit a Cursor included-usage limit instead, the message would prompt you to increase your on-demand usage limit.
Yes, that is the question for which one BYOK this error happened: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, etc.? I used best-of-n request.
My propositions is to include the exact model name for which the error happened.
