Issue with Agent Mode Chat Initialization

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I’ve noticed a bug when using agent mode: after typing a message and pressing Enter, the agent chat begins loading but then stops and returns to the input field. I have to press Enter a second time for the chat to actually start working. Additionally, the initial failed attempt is counting toward my token usage despite no response being generated.

Steps to Reproduce

Chatting in agent mode

Expected Behavior

Chat to work when pressing enter first time

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. Which model are you using? Also, let me know if you have any MCP servers enabled.

Hi deanrie,

I was using grok-code-fast-1

Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks for the info, we’re looking into it.

Myself and 2 teammates are also experiencing this consistently. It’s quite frustrating, as my muscle memory hits enter and I shift to a different agent, not noticing the first has failed. This is killing my productivity.
