I've been charged for a plan I cannot use

I originally signed into Cursor with GitHub, through work. Through work, I have a business plan paid for by my company, and I have a business plan.

I want my Cursor GitHub account to be my personal account. I signed in with GitHub, I entered my credit card and it charged me for 1 month of the pro plan, but then on the next screen it says I have a business account. I cannot use my business account for personal use.

I paid $20 to use Cursor for personal use, yet I cannot. Nor can I find a way to edit my subscription so that I won’t be charged for future months that I cannot use.

Hi @kdaviduik ,

Can you please confirm this understanding is correct:

  1. Your employer has a Cursor Business plan

  2. As such, you have access to Cursor through your employer’s Business plan (linked to your work email address)

  3. You signed up for Cursor Pro plan using the same work email address

  4. You were charged $20 for 1 month of the Pro plan

  5. However, when logged in at https://www.cursor.com/settings, it shows that you have a Business account

  6. You have a Business plan (through your employer) and a Pro plan (that you signed up for personally) and they are both linked to the same email address

  7. You want to keep your Business plan (through your employer - for work related usage) but also want to have a Pro plan (for personal usage)

  8. You want to keep using the same work email address for both your employer’s Business plan and your personal Pro plan

Thank you!

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. No - I did not use my work email address to sign up for the Cursor Pro plan. I signed up for Cursor Pro plan using my GitHub account (I use the same GitHub account for work + personal). My Cursor Business account through my employer should be linked to my work email address rather than my GitHub account.
  4. Yes
  5. Yes
  6. Not quite. I do have a Business plan (through my employer) and a Pro plan (that I signed up for personally), but they are NOT both linked to the same email address (or at least should not be)
  7. Yes
  8. No, I do not want to use my work email address for my personal plan. I want my personal plan to be linked to my GitHub account, and my work Business plan to be linked to my work email address.

Hi @kdaviduik ,

I think the next step required is to:

  • Email the Cursor team (from the email address shown in the Manage Subscription area when logged in at https://www.cursor.com/settings - hi@cursor.com)

  • Include a link to this topic:

https://forum.cursor.com/t/ive-been-charged-for-a-plan-i-cannot-use/20103

  • Include:
    • The email address associated with your GitHub account (that you signed up to the Pro plan with)
    • The email address associated with your Business account (confirm what this is with your Employer first)

Hopefully the accounts team will be able to resolve the issue from there.
