Describe the Bug
Hi everyone,
Since the Cursor 2.0 update, Live Share has completely stopped working.
I can’t start any sessions (command ‘liveshare.start’ not found), and even worse —
after uninstalling the extension to test, I can’t reinstall it anymore from the marketplace.
Here’s what’s happening:
The Live Share extension no longer shows up in the marketplace search.
Installing it manually from the official VS Code marketplace doesn’t work in Cursor 2.0.
I already tried restarting Cursor, clearing extension folders, and reinstalling the app — nothing changes.
From what I’ve read, it seems that Live Share is no longer compatible with Cursor 2.0, probably due to Microsoft’s proprietary dependencies.
Some users mentioned that downgrading to an older Live Share version via a .vsix file used to work before Cursor 2.0, but I haven’t been able to find a compatible version or make it install.
Has anyone managed to get Live Share working again on Cursor 2.0?
Or does the Cursor team plan to restore compatibility with Live Share in a future update?
Thanks in advance for your help ![]()
Steps to Reproduce
Open Cursor 2.0
Go to the Extensions panel and search for “Live Share”
Notice that the extension doesn’t appear in the search results
If it was previously installed, try uninstalling and reinstalling it
Attempt to reinstall it either via the built-in marketplace or the official VS Code marketplace
Installation fails or does nothing, and Live Share remains unavailable
