Unable to host live share

Hi, just a heads up - I am able to join other users’ Live Share if I am using Cursor and they are on VS Code, but they’re unable to join mine if I host via Cursor and they’re on VS Code.

Tested with me hosting on VS Code and they were able to join fine, so I do think it has to do with Cursor hosting Live Share.

Thank you for the report. We’ll have a look.

also having an issue with this except the issue is i cannot host live share at all. it says " Starting collaboration session: Auth token returned by microsoft provider is empty."

Not sure if they’re related

Echoing issues here also. Can you please look into it and/or provide instructions on how to do it properly so that we remain in Cursor while joining a Live Share session?

I managed to solve the problem by joining a session after changing the text “visualstudio” in the link to “cursor”

I’m unable to start Live Share on Windows 11.

This is from the sidebar button.

This is from the bottom bar button.

Ah… didn’t look there because it specified macOS.
Downgrading to 1.0.5936 from 3 months ago works for now on Windows 11 24H2. :+1:

This is an example of one of the main sticking points with Cursor. Being a fork of VSCode instead of a plugin means user always have to wonder if extensions and new features are going to work because Cursor will be playing catch-up all the time.

cursor: command ‘liveshare.start’ not found

vs code: working fine
macOS 14.4.

any update on this?

Microsoft’s / GitHub’s Live Share Extension currently isn’t supported, as it’s a proprietary extension from Microsoft.

You should be able to get this open-source version working instead though:
