I’m being forcibly pushed to update to the latest Cursor version, and can’t use the Agent until I do…but I don’t want to update.
Cursor’s updates are full of bugs and breaking changes, so I want to remain in the older version I’ve got, where I already got used to the current Cursor issues in this version.
I don’t want to disturb my workflow anymore.
Steps to Reproduce
Try to use the Agent.
Get a push message telling me to update if I want to keep using the Agent.
Expected Behavior
Continue using the Agent regardless of the Cursor version I have installed.
On top of paying $500 a month for Cursor, having multiple bugs and issues for months that you haven’t solved, now you want to FORCE me to use a Cursor version that I don’t want to use…???
Hey, thanks for the report. I get the frustration, it sucks to update when the current version works fine for you.
This is a team design decision. Agent requires the latest version to work. That’s because Agent is evolving fast, and supporting older API versions makes it harder to ship new features and fixes.
I know a lot of users had issues in 2.x, but the team is working on stability. A couple tips if you decide to update:
Export any important chats before updating (Chat menu> Export Chat)
If you hit specific bugs after updating, please file reports with the Request ID. That helps the team prioritize fixes
About staying on the old version, your feedback is getting to the team. It’s clearly a pain point for some paid users, you’re not alone. But right now, Agent only works on the latest version.
