Network connection timing while agent is running is ruining the app

I get: Connection failed. If the problem persists, please check your internet connection or VPN. I get it all the time. everything will be working fine and then it errors out, even though other agents running simultaneously are fine.

I’m a paid subscriber but I use multiple AI coding tools. Cursor is the only one with this problem. Google Antigravity has never errored out in this way. I sometimes exceed a quota and have to switch models but it never times out and never plagues me with the same problem over and over again. This problem appears to have been going on for some time. Please fix. Cursor is bordering on unusable. I can’t justify continuing to pay a subscription under these circumstances.

Hey, thanks for the report.

This error is known and is usually related to HTTP/2 or your network setup. Please try:

  1. Disable HTTP/2:

    • Settings CTRL+, > search for “HTTP/2” > enable “Disable HTTP/2”
    • Or Settings > search for “HTTP Compatibility Mode” > select HTTP/1.1
    • Restart Cursor

  2. Network Diagnostics:

    • Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics
    • Please share a screenshot of the results here

  3. Check extensions:

    • Run cursor --disable-extensions from the command line
    • If that helps, try disabling extensions one by one

  4. If the error happens in the middle of a chat try starting a new chat. Sometimes the current chat gets “broken” due to a serialization bug.

Also, please share:

  • Your Cursor version (Help > About > Copy)
  • Whether you’re using a VPN or a corporate proxy
  • Console errors (Help > Toggle Developer Tools > Console) right when the error happens
