New chats are not working with 'Max mode has been disabled' message

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Chat is not working, all queriers are getting the message “Max mode has been disabled for your team. Please contact your team admin for more information”, even when I’m using Max mode. This is blocking all new chats, even with the ‘auto’ option enabled for the model.

This is not happening in previous chats. I can send more messages to existing chats.

Steps to Reproduce

Start a new chat

Expected Behavior

Chat should be responsive

Operating System

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @Anastasios_Skias, thanks for the report and the request ID.

Your team’s workspace has a restriction on Max mode, and new chats on your install are picking up a hidden Max setting (even on Auto), which is why only new chats get blocked. Max Mode is no longer an active concept in Cursor for users on token/usage-based plans, and we’ve fixed this for your team.

Can you restart Cursor and try again?

it’s working now! I really appreciate your prompt response.
