Recently updated Cursor and the Effort and Options are now the foremost options, and the model selection has been moved into a submenu. This means when using the keyboard shortcut for changing models I can’t type the name of the model to switch quickly. I have to navigate to the model name at the bottom, and then can start searching.
Ya honestly this is a real head-scratcher. I get wanting to prioritize model adjustments but this is the 3rd or 4th iteration in 3 months and the worst one by far.
Trying to force us into auto mode?
Running experiments?
Please put it back so I can change agents without going 2 menus deep.
+1 - This is a terrible change - now we can’t even see what the currently selected model is. It’s useful knowing exactly which model and effort settings are at a glance. The small ‘edit’ was a bit hidden on the previous version, but once you found it, it’s fine. This just adds a whole bunch of work on a pretty hot path.
This change is awful. I also cannot easily see what model I am using (which is critical to control spending and ensure appropriate model assigned for given task). Honestly one of the worst changes I’ve ever seen Cursor make: a high use component that hides important information from the user.
