in the new pro plan, do i get any extra billings if i have max mode on ( and usage-based pricing is off ) ? also what happens after my quota ends? like it as 500 requests back then, now it does not show it in the dashboard, so what is the limit now?
Hi @hossammenem and welcome to Cursor Forum.
The new pricing has been anounced on the website and in the forum. Its pinned on the main page of forum.
There is no limit of 500 fast requests anymore, no fast/slow queue but unlimited monthly requests and a rate limit applies. There are no limits on tool call usage.
Max is included and all models as well. With Max you may reach rate limits earlier than with regular models as Max consumes more tokens. Same applies with more top of the line models.
With usage based pricing off there should be no additional charges.
just now anounced ?
No, yesterday?, its still pinned in the forum main page.
[Edit:]
hmm, perhaps its not entirely clear from Michaels pinned post. but he mentioned it there.
Can you double confirm this? On Cursor it says MAX and Opus are billed at API pricing.
Thanks
Hi @eggplant Max and Opus are included in all plans, however note that āheavierā usage like Max or Opus consumes more of the rate limit.
Once you reach the rate limit you could:
- Switch to another model / turn off Max
- Switch to Usage Based Pricing to continue above rate limit
- Wait until rate limit resets.
Iām also very curious about this. Inside the IDE, it shows āBilled at API pricingā under the MAX mode, which is quite confusing. Does this mean weāll be billed later? Or, if weāre on the PRO plan and use MAX, does it really mean thereās no additional charge beyond the usage limit?
does it mean pro plan can use max and opus if rate limit not yet reached without extra cost and without enabling Usage Based Pricing?
Yes Iāve used max once or twice for fun no charge.
how about o3-pro? also included in the new pro plan?
Will try this morning and let you know.
Hi Good morning. Im not understanding the new Pro Plan.
With Pro Plan. Activating MAX mode stills costs extra money $ right? It is not included in the Pro Plan
With the Ultra Plan. MAX mode it is included or i need to pay extra $ for using MAX mode?
no, its still in max mode only.
Well Iām finally being nailed by request limits now, will see how long it takes to reset, if ever.
I got a measly 2,000 lines suggested today before i hit the limit. @danperks has this issue been resolved?
Does max mode actually consume more tokens in general, or only because context window is higher and thus has the capability to consume more tokens?
Or is it somehow more powerful or consumes more tokens even when way below the context window?
I can tell you that it generates more token, hence counts as more requests, and sometimes it generate less tokens and counts less than one request.
The best plan is Ultra plan if you have a big project and time is of the essence.
@BigMitchGit Max has a larger context, that means it can ingest larger amount of code but also generate larger amount. In that sense its more powerfull for complex tasks where smaller context doesn not suffice. I would say that it does consume a bit more tokens in general but not necessarily always a lot.
So, yes it can consume more tokens, but if you manage the context well by not attaching unnecessary files it may in some cases use less context.
As cocode said Max is good for bigger projects, less strict budget and when you need a powerful model.
I have been using Claude 4 Sonnet Thinking MAx over last few days and havent reached any limits yet. About 20 000 lines of code written by Agent.
