New update corrupting files

Describe the Bug

when im trying to make changes to a file using ‘search_replace’ and ‘write’ its corrupting the file everytime. i recently updated cursor but when i came onto my pc to work today cursor had to be redownloaded for some strange reason

Steps to Reproduce

use the newest version of cursor and try with an exisiting file

Expected Behavior

its supposed to implement the new code correctly and then i can proceed with other things

erm i lost my main chat a couple of days ago randoly but it was very large anyways and i managed to get the context back fairly easy. its a couple of days old the chat but only started happening this morning the issue after i updated and had to reinstall cursor for some reason ike it corrupted itself
