New Visual Editor prevents adding multiple elements in chat box

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I would often cite multiple UI elements inside the chat box, however after the new update with the visual editor, you cannot select multiple as it constantly just overides to the last element you click.

Steps to Reproduce

Click the select element button, select an element, then select another element.

Expected Behavior

Each element you selected would appear sequentelly in the chat box.

same bug is happening to me. Before the latest update, I could select multiple items at once in the same agent conversation. now is impossible, since it’s mixed up with the new CSS selector. makes very difficult to work with cursor now. please fix!

Working on this now. Apologies for the inconvenience

Thanks! Could you guys also pls fix the new bug where every time the user chooses "‘Select Element’ to add it to the recent chat, Cursor opens a NEW chat and adds the desired element.

Because of this you loose all context when adding items to an existing chat, which makes this useful feature practically useless now.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Just saw you fixed it already, thank you!

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Description:
The “Select Element” feature in Cursor IDE no longer allows selecting multiple elements simultaneously as it did previously. When attempting to select multiple DOM elements using the CSS selector, only the last clicked element remains selected, overwriting previous selections.

Expected Behavior:

  • Ability to select multiple DOM elements using Shift+Click or Cmd/Ctrl+Click
  • All selected elements should be added to the chat simultaneously
  • Previous selections should be maintained when clicking on new elements

Actual Behavior:

  • Only the last clicked element is selected
  • Previous selections are lost when clicking on a new element
  • It’s not possible to add multiple elements to the chat in a single selection session

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a web application in Cursor’s integrated browser
  2. Activate the “Select Element” feature (CSS selector)
  3. Attempt to select multiple elements using Shift+Click or Cmd+Click
  4. Observe that only the last selected element remains in the selection

Expected Behavior

This bug appears to be related to the recent update that incorporated the visual editor. The issue has been reported by other users on the Cursor community forum.
