No solution: Extension host terminated unexpectedly 3 times within the last 5 minutes

I have invested way too much time and money on cursor to go back to vscode. I have - Version: 0.42.5
VSCode Version: 1.93.1
Commit: 001668006cc714afd397f4ef0d52862f5a095530
Date: 2024-11-14T00:33:36.512Z
Electron: 30.4.0
Chromium: 124.0.6367.243
Node.js: 20.15.1
V8: 12.4.254.20-electron.0
OS: Linux x64 6.8.0-48-generic

And even though i have i tried several times now to reinstall cursor again and again - it still gives me this error - “Extension host terminated unexpectedly 3 times within the last 5 minutes.” Somehow it remembers the settings also each time i reinstall, I have a feeling that there is a conflict between vscode and cursor’s own settings?

Hey, did you reinstall Cursor using this guide?

I don’t see any reinstall guide there… i just see how to uninstall

This is essentially a reinstallation. You’ll need to remove the associated folders.

I encountered similar issues and tried using extension bisect along with other solutions. Eventually, I discovered the problem stemmed from Pylance attempting to scan a large directory containing numerous data files. To resolve this, I added the data directory to the python.analysis.exclude setting. This fixed the issue, and Pylance started working properly. You might want to try this solution as well.
