Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Describe the Bug

When I open cursor and start a new chat it sometimes open a chat in the right side and keep the old chat in the left side, so I am getting 2 chats opened at the same time.

Steps to Reproduce

Close cursor
Reopen cursor
Click in “New chat” button

Expected Behavior

Should replace the actual chat with the new one

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report.

It looks like the duplication is related to the new Agent sidebar. Please try this:

  • Settings → Agents → Default Location: set it to “Pane” instead of “Editor”
  • Close the Agent panel, then try creating a new chat again

This workaround helped in a similar case: CMD+OPT+B often opens two chat sidebars

Let me know if the issue still happens.
