CMD+OPT+B often opens two chat sidebars

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Since the past two weeks or so I’ve been having trouble with the right sidebar (chat). It’s been like this since the new (unwanted) agent sidebar started creeping in.

What happens is, I press CMD+OPT+B (which i use to toggle the right sidebar), and instead of closing the sidebar a second one opens to the right of the existing one.

Sometimes a totally white (blank) sidebar opens.

Here’s a screenshot of the second sidebar that i see. Notice that the “existing sidebar” has the three buttons (﹢, :timer_clock:, …) but the “new” one only has two (…, x).

Steps to Reproduce

I don’t know how to trigger it regularly, i just notice that sometimes the chat sidebar turns into a badly formatted one which has the three buttons instead of the two. I managed to trigger it now by writing some stuff in a chat, then closing and opening cursor, this caused the sidebar to be of the “bad variety” which looks like this (notice that i can’t see the whole height of it, the bottom is cut off)

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report.

It looks like the duplication is related to the new Agent sidebar. Please check:

  • Settings → Agents → Default Location - set it to Pane, not Editor.
  • Close the Agent panel and try Cmd+Opt+B again.

If the issue persists after setting Default Location = Pane, share the details and I’ll file a bug for the team.

That solved it! Thanks a lot, i appreciate it.
