Hey, this is expected behavior. Opus 4.6 is a premium model and is only available on paid plans like Pro, Pro+, Ultra, or Teams.

On the free Hobby plan, you only get the Auto model selector, which picks the best model for each request.

You have two options to access Opus 4.6:

  1. Upgrade your plan at https://cursor.com/dashboard/billing. Any paid plan unlocks all models, including Opus 4.6.
  2. Use your own API key. If you have an Anthropic API key, you can add it in Cursor: Settings > Models and use Opus 4.6 that way, but you still need a Pro subscription.
