Is there no way to even see how much usage you are getting a month? It’s all percentage based now? I just checked my usage and can’t seem to find a dollar cost.
Hey @banth31!
I think you’re referring to this view?
We are starting to roll out a new view that shows exactly how much Auto and API usage users on self-serve plans have left. You’ll see requests shown as consuming a % of that usage, rather than a specific dollar amount. Your plan still includes the same amount of guaranteed API usage!
Would be happy to hear any feedback you have.
I’d like to see the cost displayed in dollar values.
The previous UI showed both token counts and costs, which was really helpful. (I even used a custom script to inject a “Cost per 1M tokens” column into both the “Included Usage” and “On-Demand Usage” tables.)
In the new layout, the “Included Usage” table no longer shows cost information, which makes it harder to estimate my on-demand spending. While it’s still possible to infer the cost by multiplying the percentage by the total monthly plan value, it’s much less straightforward.
If you want to show the %, maybe it’s better to show the both % and the cost in dollar?
Edit: it seems the cost value in dollar is available in the title (visible when hover), so the info is still there ![]()
Hi Colin,
How can I gain access to this view, to see the “Auto + Composer” usage available to me? This is not present in my “Spending” tab or “Usage” tab. I’m on Ultra plan, exhaust my $400 allowance every month, and had no idea there was a separate bucket of usage I could tap into to try to keep my spending down.
Hey Charlie!
I believe users are switched to the new view at the start of their next billing cycle.
Hi Colin !
On this topic, the percentage bar is super helpful and is a good step in the right direction. However as a user i would like to understand how my $ is being spent based on my usage so i can adjust (workload, model…etc). I feel like i dont know when im close to my limit up until i see the message in my IDE mid coding session which is a super destructive experience.
If a dashboard is not something the team would like to spend time building, making the api available to pull this data would also be awesome.
I don’t quite understand the difference in usage between the two different sections (AUTO / API). In other words, if we reach 100% of the Auto usage in our subscription plan, do we still have free API usage? Are there two different usage quotas?
@adri9deu Yes, two separate quotas! You can switch between them during the month. If you exhaust your Auto/Composer usage, any additional Auto/Composer usage will be billed at API prices.
That said, you can use Auto today (using your Auto/Composer quota) and Sonnet tomorrow (using your API quota). One doesn’t have to be depleted to use the other.
Great! I think this new feature is a huge help for the users to understand the usage logic and also optimize which model use in each case.
One more thing: I’ve got a Pro plan, and I am trying to figure out which are the actual usage limits of my plan according to this new table in user dashboard (this view is also veery useful btw), cause total tokens vs total $ amount does not match.
- For API, I consumed 18M tokens (if put curor on it says $1,48 value), and it means 3,3% –> so total is $45? or 545M tokens?
- For Auto + composer, I consumed 24,4M tokens (if put curor on it says $8,44 value), and it means 5,6% –> so total included is $150? o 436M tokens?
Thanks again
Hi Colin,
Previously, even after reaching what appeared to be 100% usage, the dashboard sometimes reflected additional usage value (for example, showing higher equivalent API value usage beyond the base amount).
Could you please clarify:
-
After reaching 100% of included API usage, do Pro users still receive any additional buffered or subsidized usage as before?
-
Or is usage now strictly capped at 100% unless on-demand billing is enabled?
-
If capped, does Auto mode remain fully usable after 100% API usage is reached?
That additional usage, when available, is now included as a part of your API Usage bucket. You are always garunteed at a minimum, what was advertised ($20, $70, and $400 of API usage for Pro/Pro+/Ultra plans respectively).
Auto + Composer usage applies whenever Auto or Composer models are selected, including after your API usage has been exhausted.
