Please add green/red diff highlights to plan document

Cursor’s built in markdown preview for plans is very nice but it’s missing the critical feature of showing green/red highlighted diffs.

My current work around is to just expand the chat section to see the markdown version with the green/red diffs but the width has a maximum so you can’t even see the full document without side-scrolling

Please note that clicking the 3-dot menu to change plan Editor Mode → Markdown does not show green/red diffs after agent has updated plan.

I’d love to see this too!

So far, I would have to read the entire modified plan again after each refinement, including parts that I was satisfied with earlier, looking for the specific changes that were made.

Diffs in the markdown preview would be amazing, but even just an option to show the whole diff for the raw Markdown would be helpful before and after the modification to the plan!

When a plan is created or updated, it is often difficult to identify exactly what changed between versions.

It would be very helpful if Cursor could display a clear diff whenever a plan is modified, including:

  • Newly added tasks/steps

  • Removed tasks/steps

  • Modified tasks/steps

  • A summary of changes since the previous version

For example:

Added:

  • Implement OAuth callback handling

  • Add integration tests

Removed:

  • Legacy authentication flow

Modified:

  • Update database schema migration strategy

This would make plan iterations much easier to review and help users quickly understand what changed without manually comparing the entire plan.

Use cases:

  • Long implementation plans

  • Multi-step refactors

  • Agent-generated plans that evolve over time

  • Team collaboration and plan reviews

A visual changelog or diff view would significantly improve the planning workflow.

woow that is what i was looking since i use plan mode alot. :heart: Also it can show animation inlin edits too… it would be good too.

when planning its almost impossible to understand if my notes got taken care of.

some kinfdof code diff view or a reviewer view like microsoft office has are a must!
