I can’t be the only one who absolutely loathes this!
Type in your code editor: Press Enter key for newline
Go over to AI assistant: Press Enter key and Whoops! Just sent a message and now we have to wait.
I’m developing deep anxiety every time I use the assistant. Please just do the right thing here and give the Enter Key back it’s god-given purpose in life of making newlines.
Use Shift+Enter for “Send” or “Submit” … I’ve just tried messing around with the keybindings, and they don’t seem to override this behavior. For some reason Continue.dev was able to get this right.
(History: the evil “enter means send” behavior started by facebook in 2008. Pls let it die)
I am also experiencing the same issue. The Enter key is positioned in a way on my laptop that it can easily be “accidentally” pressed, resulting in messages being sent before I finish typing. Is there really no way to send messages using a different method (e.g., Shift+Enter or something else) instead of the Enter key?
Very difficult to work with Cursor because of this. On the other hand, think how this actually helps the Cursor team. They need funding, they make no secret about this. What a great way to inflate numbers by taking advantage of our muscle memory!
