This feature doesn’t make sense, doesn’t provide utility, only makes it more difficult to use Cursor. All I’m trying to do is insert a bracket at the right place in my script and cursor is jumping around on its own. If I wanted to move lines, I could easily move lines myself. Remove!
Absolutely disagree, I love it. If you dont want to accept the suggestion, hit ESC or disable the Cursor Tab on the bottom.
Agree
It is one of the most amazing practical advances with simple to use code adjustments.
Example:
You edit one small part in one area, then Cursor suggest what to adjust accordingly elsewhere in file, and new in 0.50, across files.
Highly agree with the OP, and if I recall correctly, this used to be a feature that you could toggle off. They removed that toggle about two months ago, forcing this on for everybody, even those it doesn’t benefit.
Its at the bottom of Cursor
@topdown thank you for pointing out the still available way to turn off tab.
@ohyeah2389 You can turn off tab feature in Cursor settings or if just in some files use the bottom bar shown as [Cursor Tab]
Following is not accurate, as nothing has changed for Tab:
No, this is wrong. There used to be a separate checkbox in Cursor Settings to disable the part of Cursor Tab that jumps between lines, restricting it to only suggesting code for that line. It could have been back when it was called Copilot++. It’s possible that the new Tab model can’t support this, and that’s why they removed it, but that’s speculation.
EDIT: It was called Cursor Prediction. Here it is in a YT vid from 8 months ago: https://youtube.com/watch?v=QFY8jO3c9Mo at ~7:17
Yeah I understand, unfortunately I do not recall that setting in the last versions.
All I’m saying is that I want that toggle back, if possible, in newer versions.
In my workflow, Cursor suggesting code is very helpful, but Cursor pinging me randomly around my document isn’t and has never been helpful. Maybe, as the model improves, it will be someday, but even past that day, I want to be able to turn that off.
