Hi, I have been a cursor user since you guys started, and the way you handled the pricing change is really, really disappointing to me. @danperks you wrote that the existing users who purchased the yearly cursor subscription can decide to opt out. Since I found out about the change recently, I requested to opt-out through the email and got this “AI” response.
What is this supposed to be? When did you announce that we have a 2-month period to opt out? You can’t change your terms of service without informing users. Why do we even have to opt out in the first place? This is supposed to be opt-in for the yearly users. And why is your AI bot not responding to my further questions?
Can you guys own up to your mistakes and handle this change as any serious business would? This behavior is outright ridiculous.
I sent them an email before the 2 months offer expired (even though I’m on the yearly plan) and never received a response. I then emailed them back again and they gave me the same response you got. So, I replied to Sam that I previously sent an email about it (with the proof of it) and then got no response since then. Would have been appreciated to receive a response rather than radio silence. cc: @deanrie
I only wish we were talking only tens. Even this Ultra is getting small after few days of use. It is already warning me that next week or week after that I will run out of credits. I know I should avoid Opus or other MAX models, but one time Sonnet was stuck to fixing loop and another time I was making huge changes where bigger context was needed (I thought). In either case, even normal sonnet eats credits like 20-40 per day when I start throwing tasks to it.
A - emailing the team for refunds does not work. I personally sent a detailed email with activity and behavior issues and asked for a refund, at least a partial one, and was flat out denied, twice.
B - on the 500 requests comment. Are you saying we can revert back to request based pricing ? If that is the case, where is that information available ? I’ll happily reactivate my Pro+ sub for a request based usage, as long as we can get a precise answer of what counts as a “request" so we can at least direct the model accordingly (for ex, Claude models tend to overly use terminal to launch unnecessary or unrequested commands - if that counts as a request, it will simply make no sense).
I cancelled my Pro+ subscription after this latest ordeal. The pricing non-sense, lack of control on context, and the lies (or bugs, whatever you wanna call them) like Sonnet 1m being only 500k tokens instead of a million and yet being charged at 2x over 200k, or gemini-2.5-pro not working properly for weeks, was the last straw. Add to that the lack of listening to community: for example, there are over 150+ votes on each of the feature requests to add GLM4.5 and Qwen3-coder as available models, and nothing’s been done about that. And yet, we got deepseek3.1 that almost nobody asked for, within days of its release.
I’ve been a Cursor client, on the daily, since April 2023 and a Pro (then Pro+) user since it became an option. Even on the periods I wasn’t using it (for example travel), I kept my subscription active. But now, running through the Pro+ included usage (60$) and 150$ of token-based in literally 72 hours, I decided this had become a joke and switched to Augment. Couldn’t be happier: they have a message based subscription - makes life 10x easier, despite the limited available models and it being an extension, not an actual IDE.
I hope you guys will find the right path again. Your current trajectory, in terms of pricing at least, is definitely not it. @danperks
right so part of what you are paying for is the Cursor IDE/tool. If you don’t need it, don’t use Cursor. The main reason to use Cursor… is for Cursor not just as a way access models.
the main point there was the pricing was good enough not to have to cancel / re-susbscribe.
I’d rather use the IDE. but not with the given costs - I’d rather give up on UX, as long as I get the intelligence I need from the AI at reasonable pricing. That’s another point you missed.
Your comment is absolutely unnecessary as it doesn’t bring anything to the table or the discussion. But thank you for your input.
Shouldn’t Pro Plus/Pro+ (the 60$ package) be an option now?
Why I can’t find it anywhere?!
I want to re-test Cursor (and Cursor CLI/cursor-agent) now after a long break when I was using Claude Code.
I don’t want to pay $200 if there’s no significant change that would benefit me, and the $20 option will not be enough to get a real feeling of how cursor changes since 2 months ago…
I did not use Cursor the months of June, July and August. Back in May I coded two full client apps, one of which very complex, without going over my limits on the $60 plan. I am now three days into building another client app and I not only went over my limits, but I have spent $130 in extra usage. I am nowhere near the complexity I was building back then. As many stated, Cursor is now rarely following rules, and it generally takes 3x the effort to get the same results I was getting back in May. Something has drastically degraded imho, I’d be curious to know what exactly. And what others are using now that this app is for rich mf’s only. Thanks
