I am not sure if this is the right place to ask questions about the privacy policy and term of use of Grok Bot. But I assume some other Cursor users might want to know it too.
We can currently use Grok Bot beta with Cursor Ultra for individuals and Team Premium. According to my research, the privacy policy and the term of use of Grok Bot follow those of xAI not Cursor. So, collected data in Grok Bot can be used for product improvement. My question is that Grok Bot doesn’t provide something like the privacy mode of Cursor?
The short version: when you use Grok Bot through your Cursor account (Ultra or Team Premium), the data handling follows your Cursor account and privacy settings, not xAI’s general privacy policy. The generic x.ai/legal pages you linked cover xAI’s own products, which is why they don’t say anything Cursor-specific.
A few specifics:
Cursor Privacy Mode does apply to Grok Bot. With Privacy Mode on, your Grok Bot data isn’t used for training by Cursor or any model provider (including xAI). For teams, the team’s privacy setting governs all members.
Training opt-out follows your Cursor privacy settings, the same controls you already use across the rest of Cursor.
One exception: Grok Bot needs data storage to run, so Legacy Privacy Mode (no storage) blocks Grok Bot entirely. If you’re on Legacy Privacy Mode, you’ll see a prompt about that.
