Provider Error - trouble connecting to the model provider

I thought i give Cursor a try because i’ve heard many positiv things about it. Ive used the free plan and got some nice experiences so i decided to upgrade to the pro plan. But after that im only getting those error message: “We’re having trouble connecting to the model provider. This might be temporary - please try again in a moment.”

What can i do to fix this?

Did you…..try again? This message means Cursor couldn’t reach the underlying model provider (e.g. OpenAI/Anthropic) at that moment. In most cases it’s temporary, likely a network hiccup or a rate-limit spike. Try again and let us know if its resolved.

hi @Rob_devauen could you please confirm if this is still happening?

We do not have known outages at the moment but any AI provider may have temporary outage.

To make sure all works please check Settings > Network > Run Diagnostic and post report here for review.

Hi it happenend the first day. The second day worked fine. Yesterday i had again some problems for about 4 hours. Mostly it looks like it only happens when “auto” mode it active.

Thanks for the info. Try using Composer 1.5 when Auto fails, would be good to see if that has less issues when Auto is showing errors.
