Additional Information

This is a critical part of my workflow. Without it I will never use the Agent layout.

Furthermore, to make matters worse, sometimes Cursor IDE gets stuck, so even when I revert to Editor layout, I still do not see the “Go Back” and “Go Forward” buttons! Workaround I found is going into Cursor settings and changing the “Default Layout” to “Editor” and sometimes restarting Cursor. Brutal.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey, thanks for the report. The Back/Forward navigation buttons were intentionally removed from the Agent layout to free up more space for the assistant interface.

Please use the following keyboard shortcuts instead:

Back: Cmd+Alt+Left Arrow
Forward: Cmd+Alt+Right Arrow

If visual buttons are important to you, you can continue using the Editor layout as your main one.

Let me know if this works for your workflow!

I don’t follow, when in Agent layout the toolbar still has plenty of free space (shown in screenshots above). Is there upcoming changes which intend to use that space for something new?

OK, I’ll continue only using Editor layout, although I found other recent UI bugs in Editor layout (for a separate bug report). Hopefully Editor layout is still actively being maintained or is Cursor team’s long-term goal to migrate all users to using Agent layout 100% of the time?
