Describe the Bug

Cursor repeatedly crashes with “renderer process gone (reason: crashed, code: 5)” error. The crash occurs approximately every 7 minutes during normal use.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Launch Cursor
2. Open a specific project
3. Crash occurs after approximately 30 seconds
4. Close and restart Cursor
5. Open the same project again → crash repeats consistently
6. Note: Other projects may work fine, but this specific project triggers the crash

The crash happens consistently with this particular project.

Hey, thanks for the details and logs. Based on the renderer code: 5 symptom and BrowserViewMainService warnings, this matches a known issue in 2.2.20. The quickest fix that helped others:

1. Reset Cursor settings
   Example accepted solution: Cursor Crashing with error code 5 - Dec 14 and Error: The window terminated unexpectedly (reason: 'crashed', code: '5')

2. If that doesn’t help:

• Run without GPU: cursor --disable-gpu
• Run without extensions: cursor --disable-extensions
• For testing, don’t open the agent browser panel

Give an update on the steps above - we’ll check and move forward.

The issue has been resolved, but I’m not sure what caused it. Thank you for your support.

Cursor Crashing with error code 5 - Dec 14

After that, when I opened the same project again,the same error occurred. However, after running the following commands: cd ~/Library cd “Application Support” mv Cursor2 Cursor the issue was resolved. The Cursor “Allow command” setting was reset, but the problem is now fixed.
