I would like to propose the addition of “Rule Profiles” or a more granular way to manage User Rules within Cursor. Currently, Global User Rules apply universally, which creates friction when switching between projects with different tech stacks or architectural patterns. Manually adding and removing global rules to avoid conflicts with project-specific .cursorrules is inefficient. Introducing the ability to save multiple rule profiles or a simple toggle to enable/disable global rules from the settings would significantly improve workflow flexibility and prevent “context pollution” across different development environments.
