Setting to hide Editor in Agent mode

Describe the request

I would love a setting that simply lets me completely hide the editors in Agent mode and if I were to click on a file, it would automatically switch to Editor view.

See the attached “agent view” picture. on the left I have my agents, and on the right I would only like to have the terminal and the side bar. And before you say “but there is a toggle for the editors” - the problem is that the moment I click to see the changes made by an Agent in a file, the editor pops back up.

As I said above, what I’d like to happen is that when I toggle to hide the editor inside Agent mode, whenever I click to see the changes the Agent made to a file, Cursor automatically switches to Editor view. This would tremendously help me stay in flow.

Hey, one of the problems I have is that when I switch a layout from agent to editor or vice versa, it freezes the whole cursor window for 5-10 seconds. Not sure if this would be “acceptable” in a productive workflow.

Hey, thanks for the feature request. You’re heading in the right direction. The team is actively collecting layout and UI feedback in this megathread: [Megathread] Cursor layout and UI feedback

There are already 200+ posts with ideas, including requests for layout customization and keyboard shortcuts to switch views. Lee (from the Cursor team) mentioned they’re working on improving layout customization. I’d recommend adding your request there so it’s definitely on the team’s radar along with the other layout ideas.
