As I continue to use Cursor, my use of it grows increasingly advanced. I occasionally have single-line prompts, mostly when I’m troubleshooting an ongoing issue and the agent just decided to stop progressing on its own (far greater problem with GPT than Claude, BTW.) Most of the time, however, I am creating richer prompts. Multiple lines, often with bullet points and other details.
It would be nice to have an option to change which key combination actually “issues” the prompt to the agent. Currently, the Enter (Return) key issues the prompt. When writing complex prompts, this often results in me accidentally issueing the prompt much too soon, for which I then have to scramble to find the stop button before tokens get involved and I burn usage. This is because the fundamentally natural keystroke to add a new line to a body of text on a computer is the Enter key.
If we had an option to configure which key combination was used to issue vs. add a new line, it could make life easier for those of us who are into crafting high quality prompts. I would rather have to use Shift+Enter to issue, and Enter to add a new line, than Enter to issue and Shift+Enter to add a new line. Its just my process, its not really vibe coding (I don’t really feel my way through the process), its agent powered coding (I am in control and maintaining control is essential to keeping the agent from going off the rails and doing unwanted things!)
