Should I switch Cursor to WSL for Python quant development?

I would like to get the community’s opinion on whether I should move Cursor to a WSL environment. I’m currently using it in the Windows environment and I’m hesitating about making the switch. I’d appreciate if members could help me make this decision.

My current setup:

  • Programming primarily in Python for quantitative financial computations
  • Rather familiar with Linux (WSL 2 already installed on my machine)
  • Currently feeling that Cursor under Windows is suboptimal

I would also like to ask about the benefits of using Cursor in WSL versus staying with the Windows environment, particularly for Python development.

Thank you very much in advance for your feedback

I’ve never had issues with Windows, however, a lot of quant libraries are more compatible with Linux so I’d recommend making the switch if you’re going to be heavily dependent on them. Plus, it sounds like you’re leaning toward Linux regardless.

Windows → ease of use and GUI based tools.
Linux → efficiency and scaling. Lower latency and better server support.
