Should I Upgrade Cursor to 0.43?

I primarily use Composer for my day-to-day activities. However, I’ve noticed discussions about Composer in newer versions not being as effective as in version 0.42.5, which has made me hesitant to upgrade Cursor. I also came across mentions of hotfixes released after widespread feedback. Do these hotfixes address the issues effectively, and is it safe to upgrade? I’m not particularly concerned about the Agent feature.

Are you on Mac? I haven’t had any issues and the release has been only positive for me. They have made the 42.5 available for download (somewhere in the forum) so you can always roll back. The Cursor Agent is worth it to try out. I love it!

If you are responsible for a large code project that relies on a constantly updated library, upgrading is not recommended because many useful tools are missing

Don’t upgrade. When I started using Cursor, it seriously 10x my development speed thanks to Composer. With 0.43 I keep running into UI issues that break my flow, it’s so frustrating. I’ve downgraded to 0.42.5 so I have the old Composer, and if I need Agent I use Windsurf. Best of both worlds I guess.

How did you downgrade?

These are the official links as response to the criticism about the latest version:

Recommend the update. I prefer sidebar to pop out composer.

I never really tamed the beast that is normal composer. With agent, it got a force of nature - really 5-10x dev speed now.

Yesterday it started to take a really big step for the project when I asked some clarifying questions. Too big a change used to be a recipe for desaster and confusion. With agent I needed to fix some details (mostly garbled import lines), and it just worked.

Noob question but when downgrading, should one uninstall the latest version first? I ask because I just blankly installed the downgraded version and was using it for a few days. Then I restarted my comp and Cursor is back to 43.5, can’t find 42.5

–edit–
just did the 4.25 install and it overwrote the 43.5. Again not sure if this is proper for macOS application use but seems to function just fine?
