Feature request for product/service
Cursor IDE
Describe the request
Currently there are two ways of adding files/lines of code to the chat window that I use.
There is the selecting text, and then right-clicking it and doing “Add to chat”, or pressing Command+L
Then for files, in Primary sidebar files browser, you can right click on a directory or file and then choose “Add file to Cursor Chat”. This doesn’t currently seem to have a keyboard binding, and I appear to be not smart enough to figure out how to bind one.
The feature request would be to standardise the “Add to chat” functionality for both selected code, and files in the left sidebar to use the same keypress, which could be bound to either a key, or other input device. e.g. a streamdeck - see attached image.
The “Add to chat” button works for selected code, but doesn’t (and currently can’t) work for files.
As background, I’m trying to type on the keyboard less due to an RSI/neckpain problem. I realise that a lot of people are quite happy adding files to the chat window by pressing @ and then typing/navigating to find the appropriate file. I really don’t like that, both because it involves typing, but also because trying to navigate a large project in a teeny-tiny popup feels bad.
As Cursor already has a a large window for displaying the files in a project, I’d really prefer to use that, with just the mouse and a single button press.
