👨‍🎓 Student Discount - Details, Updates, Q&As

Same

I am a current student at the University of Tübingen in Germany, and my student email address is: beibashsah.■■■■@student.uni-tuebingen.de.

I tried to apply for your student discount program but received a “Verification Limit Exceeded” error, even though I haven’t used the service before. Could you clarify:

  1. Does Cursor support student emails from German universities (specifically *@student.uni-tuebingen.de)?
  2. How can I resolve the verification limit issue?

Looking forward to your guidance. Thank you!

Hi,
I’m a student from Brazil, and my institutional email does not end with “.edu” but instead uses the domain of my university (e.g., *@fiap.com.br). This is common for many educational institutions in Brazil.

I would like to request access to the student plan and am happy to provide any proof of enrollment or a valid student ID if needed.

Thank you for your help and consideration!

I have successfully verified my student email and intended to subscribe using the annual student discount. However, when I went ahead with my subscription, I was unexpectedly charged the full amount. Because I chose to cancel my subscription, the page indicated that I could not get a refund. As a student, this unexpected charge has put a heavy financial burden on me.

My pro student status reverted to 15 day trial. I have invoice issued and everything verified. Why this happened to me?

why it is so hard to admit that it is your fault of verifying students and start to blaming us, I never saw such an explanation that “to avoid abuse of this system” so we allow you to login with account A and verify with account B, and you ban me.

I also have the issue when verified my college email while being logged in under my personal account. I successfully received an email from SheerID, but I am not able to apply discount. Later I signed up under my college email but still no success, discount does not work there as well. I am not sure what am I supposed to do? there was not a rule that My Cursor account should use my college email.

I recently signed up for a free account using my school email and successfully verified my student status. When I tried to apply the student discount, I was redirected to the “Upgrade to Pro” page. I assumed that the discount would be applied after the payment, so I proceeded to pay for the annual subscription.

However, I noticed that the student discount was not applied, and I was charged the full price. Could you please help me apply the student discount or refund the price difference?

I, the day this was released, used my Northwestern University email address to try to verify my student status on this (non Northwestern) account. Obviously, it failed, but now I have reached my sheerID limit, and cannot successfully apply the discount on a new cursor account I made using my Northwestern email address. I am a university student, but it now appears as if I may never get this discount? Please let me know any next steps.

My country is not listed in the option available for the student discount

I don’t know why but there is no option to select India in the form while filling out the student details, many of my fellow mates did but now it is not avaiable, can anyone tell me the solution

I created an account using my personal email address and then verified my student status with my student email address to receive a discount. However, the discount was not applied to the account. As a result, I deleted that account and created a new one using my student email address. Nevertheless, the discount still wasn’t applied, and even when I followed the “Apply Discount” link sent by email, nothing changed.

Are Israeli universities in the list ?

SheerID wont even verify or send an email back .

I got an email saying my student discount will be revoked because of fraud detection. However I am an official student of Korea National Open University and got verified with my official proof of enrollment from my university. I got an email from “[email protected]” saying that I did not upgrade my plan and asking if I needed help and replied that I upgraded with a student discount. Would this have been the problem? What should I do?

Same here.
I’m a student and programmer from Russia. I’ve been paying for Cursor every month since October because it’s a great product and really helps me in my work. When the student plan was announced, I submitted all my documents right away and was excited to get support as a student.
It’s disappointing to see the discount being canceled after doing everything right.

:frowning:

UPD: Just to be clear — I’m not saying you’re doing something wrong. Your service is excellent, and even with payment restrictions in my country, it’s been worth it. Cursor really helps me study and work better.
It’s just a bit sad to see such a great opportunity given and then taken away. I understand it’s because of people abusing the system — and that’s unfortunate.

It’s disheartening to see how the abuse and resale of fraudulent student credentials in China are
impacting genuine students. The outcry on platforms like Xiaohongshu(Red-Note) reflects the frustration of
those losing out on benefits due to these scams. The prevalence of fake academic qualifications
online erodes trust and makes it harder for legitimate students to access the perks they deserve.
It’s a shame that this issue overshadows the contributions Chinese power are making in fields
like open-source LLM development. Verifying student status via video with a student ID might help
combat this problem.

Same thing for me. I used an official college student address and was flagged as fraud. Should I trust Cursor any more? @danperks
