Suddenly can only use "auto or Auto" mode because models are "not available in the slow pool"

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Suddenly I can’t use any model and Cursor offers only the cryptic suggestion to use “auto or Auto”. I’m also offered a banner to “get faster responses” by setting a limit but I have plenty of API usage remaining AND I do have a limit set already anyways if I go over.

Steps to Reproduce

No idea what CAUSED it but reproduction is simply to pick any specific model and try to submit…

Expected Behavior

It would use my selected model and not complain.

For AI issues: which model did you use?

gpt-5.2-codex-low but all models give the same result.

Additional Information

Obviously I am logged in and on a paid plan since you can see only 20% of the period API usage has been spent.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

It looks like I have a similar issue…

same issue here

Same happening to me

same. worst day for this to happen too. using codex app heavily now.

Same here

seem like alive again. let’s go back to work =)

mine is like that too. I just reached US$ 200 usage and it just locked my usage and only allows Auto:

Edit: Just started working again

The implication is that auto will often route to “composer-1” model which is Freaking god awful expensive, cost me $10 bucks without even knowing on 3 turns on a refactor that codex was more than up to the job for. I wonder if this is intentional. my agent selection keeps reverting to “auto” on its own, without my intervention. NOT Good, better get this fixed. a fast way to churn your customer base (e.g. not acceptable)

Hey all! There was an issue that should now be fixed.

Sorry for the disruption.

it’s still showing up for me. Is this part of a new pricing strategy by cursor?

I am still seeing the Get Faster responses issue as well

Please try restarting Cursor and retrying the request!

this issue is back and restarting Cursor doesn’t help.
