The cursor crashes after last 2 updates

Describe the Bug

when scrolling the project files it starts freezing even though i have 16GB of ram and 256 of c drive space vacate of to use and crashes mid usage, the crash has occured 6-7 times since i used last 2 days

Steps to Reproduce

open the project open the cursor ai then scrolling project folder files going into drag and drop files into agent

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

version: 1.3.3
vscode: 1.99.3
date of last update 27/07/2025

Thank you for the bug report.

As this is not a common issue with a default installation we need further information to identify the cause.

  • Please check Help > Open Process Explorer and post here a screenshot.
  • Do you have any processes running in terminal within Cursor?
  • Does this also occur on a new project? (would indicate large chat storage)
  • Does this occur when you run with extensions disabled? cursor --disable-extensions
  • Could you please post also the error message here?

even the process explorer starts crashing

also i have only 2 terminal running one to start the react project and one to push the code on github

From the screenshot its visible that node.exe process consumes 2.8GB ram. See also one line there allows 2GB ram max limit.

Does restarting that process free up a lot of memory?
