To‑Do Lists Not Appearing in Agent Mode Despite Feature Enabled

Describe the Bug

The To‑Do lists panel doesn’t show up and no tasks are created, even though the To‑Do List feature is enabled in settings. It’s approaching the user prompt as earlier. No UI appears, and tasks aren’t tracked. Cursor is already updated to version 1.2.1.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to Settings → enable To‑Do List

  2. Select Agent Mode (autonomous) using Claude 4 Sonnet

Notice: no To‑Do list panel appears

Expected Behavior

Agent mode (with To‑Do enabled) should display a dedicated panel tracking tasks created based on the user prompt.

same for me

hi @enrique72889 @constintan You can ask the agent to plan changes or create a todo list if you think it would benefit from it.

For simple task assignments it may not need a todo list.

With more complex cases it does create To-dos.

So you’re saying the prompt needs to be a complex task for the todo_tool to be called? What determines the complexity of the task?

What if I explicitly ask if the tool exists and multiple LLMs claim that the tool is not in their kit but others I regularly see are?

If that wasn’t clear – I’m also unable to access the To-Do lists feature and if the above is true, I’m being asked to burn more tokens to feign complexity to invoke the tool.

Could I help myself with your vote? To-do lists don't work
