Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hi @Dan_B Thank you for the post and sorry for the hassle here. This is known model behavior quality and we are working to improve it so that it is not asking questions needlessly. There is not a setting to turn these popups off today, however, a few things usually help:

  1. Add a user rule under Customize → Rules so it applies across chats:

Never use the AskQuestion tool. Do not ask clarifying questions or ask me to choose options. Make reasonable assumptions, state them briefly, and proceed.

That usually cuts the frequency a lot. It will not guarantee zero questions, because the tool stays available to the model.

  1. You are on Auto, which mixes models, and some ask much more than others. Pinning one specific model often steadies this.

  2. When a junk question appears, hit Skip (Esc) or just type a message and send. The agent is waiting for input, not stuck.

Thanks for the clarification. The suggested rule seems like a practical workaround for now, especially for users who prefer the model to make reasonable assumptions instead of interrupting the workflow with unnecessary questions.

Hopefully, future improvements will reduce the need for these prompts altogether. I think many users would appreciate either smarter detection of when clarification is actually needed or an option to disable unnecessary “Ask Question” prompts entirely while still allowing the model to proceed with sensible defaults.

Yes, we are looking to improve this behavior and make it more targeted and less default behavior - e.g. the model only asks it when it really needs it, rather than a “bother you every time” type of behavior.

Thanks, but is there a known model I should avoid? Or one I should stick to? I’m pretty much happy with using the models included in the plan.

After updating to the latest version of Cursor, I also encountered this issue.

Being constantly asked questions is really annoying and seriously affects my work efficiency.

Another thing is that when I enter information in the “Other” option, the Agent still cannot understand it well. For example, when I say “analyze first”, the Agent does not analyze. Instead, it still pops up the “Questions” dialog and asks me to choose again!!!

I have really had enough of this today. Please fix this issue as soon as possible. Thank you!!

Is it currently possible to “fix” (work around) this issue by rolling back to an older version?

I don’t have an exact recommendation, but you can try a different-named model (rather than Auto); they do tend to ask questions at different rates.

For anyone following along, it seems like Composer 2.5 runs fine without these annoyances.

I just got asked:

Finishing verification. Continue?
a) continue finishing
b) continue finishing
c) other

sorry to hear. Do you have a request ID for the chat? Also feel free to submit feedback with the thumbs up thumbs down.
